My Favorite Window

Nearly every morning of the past 35 years and 10 months Ron and I have shared this view of our world while sitting in our bed and sipping our first cup of coffee for the day. The view changes from season to season. In the winter we can see through our trees to the Capitol of Salem and the spire of the First Methodist Church across the river. In the spring the leaves begin to come out and like magic we soon have our secluded view of the forest and it's animals and birds.
The bird and squirrel feeding stations have grown to little cities in the sky outside our second story window. More variety of seeds and nuts and we have more varieties of visitors. The list of birds accepting our help as they raise their young has grown this year. Flickers, Scrub Jays, Ladder Back Woodpeckers, Audubon's Warbler, Black Headed Grosbeak, Greater and Lesser Nuthatch, flocks of Tit Mouse, Finches, Junco's and a falcon who made a fly through but missed the feeding squirrel! It is one of our favorite hobbies.

The tiny bushtit's make nests from moss in the shape of a stocking with a small opening at the top and a feather linned toe where they lay from 5 to 15 eggs.  We are watching for fledglings now.  All of these birds will bring their  young to feed ouside our window.  What a treat!

Inside the bedroom surroundings have changed a few times from the orange and sage green of the 1960's to a soothing blue and most recently to a newly painted and fresh aqua and brown.

Along with the change came a wonderful new king sized mattress and new room décor.

Life is grand! We are happy, healthy and of course Ron is Wise!

Ron continues to turn our beautiful upholstery for his loyal customers. We mow lawns at the duplex for our wonderful tenants who have been with us going on 3 years now. I enjoy gardening – shorter spans of work for my cranky old body – but I am still doing it.
Duplex Blossoms

The tree peony had 9 blooms this year – more than the usual 3 or 4. They are the size of dinner plates. Now the cardinal bush is about to burst into bloom. Tulips have been wonderful but are leaving us now. Rhode's are blooming and the Cardinal Bush is loaded with blossoms.

We had a visit from one of my high-school classmates and her husband this week. We had such a nice visit.

Ron bought flowers for our home, our guests, and me! He is a great guy!

Thanks for looking in. Love to all.
